One of the hardest working bands in showbusiness, Barry Ashworth and his motley crew have added a much-needed swagger to the UK dance scene in recent years and new album Crazy Diamonds finds the band at their uncontrollable, bass-driven best.
A rampant mix of dub, reggae, ska, punk, breaks, beats and drum ‘n’ bass, the album is a full-on dub-quaking extravaganza, built for big fields and summer sound systems. It also happens to feature some of the biggest names in the game including Dancehall dons Beenie Man and Cutty Ranks, reggae singer Earl Sixteen, hip-hop act Too Many T’s, seminal MCs Navigator and the Ragga Twins, and long-time collaborator Lindy Layton.
Tracks like killer new single ‘Crazy Diamonds’ (ft. Too Many T’s) or summer-anthem-in-making, ‘Rise Up’ (ft. Earl Sixteen and Navigator), prove that the Pistols are one of the best around at rockin’ the joint. This is futuristic skank, complete with blazing horns, brazen brass and epic drums and bass.
Proudly working class as a band, the Dub Pistols have been tearing up venues and festivals throughout their career. Inspired by the Second Summer of Love, the band were founded by ubiquitous Londoner Barry Ashworth in 1996 and have been at the forefront of beats culture ever since.
Known for their rhythmical blend of bass, turntables and horns, their genre-mashing abilities has seen them work with some of their biggest heroes including The Specials, Horace Andy, Madness and Gregory Isaacs. They’ve also seen band members come and go, not to mention squander thousands on various capers that have now become legendary and that has taken them from the brink of multi-million-dollar international success to the edge of destruction and back again.
“The band’s reputation as an explosive live act has seen them turn into super-tight festival regulars, with the Dub Pistols headlining some of the biggest festivals in Europe including Glastonbury, Bestival and Beat-Herder. Their bass-driven live machine has seen them win numerous plaudits along the way and recent live guests have included vocalists Rodney P, The Specials’ Terry Hall and Neville Staple, rap wünderkid T.K., Sugardaddy horn-blower Tim Hutton & scratch maestro, DJ Stix.”
The Dub Pistols have also turned their hand to the world of remixing and have remixed the likes of Ian Brown, Moby, Limp Bizkit, Korn and Bono and worked with hiphop legend Busta Rhymes. The band’s music has been used by Playstation and major Hollywood films.
Ashworth is also a much sought-after DJ which has won him many fans around the globe over the last 15 years. Known for his eclectic sets, he was one of the first resident DJs at the influential club, Fabric, in London and has performed high-octane primetime sets internationally in such countries as Australia, Singapore, Serbia, Dubai, Thailand, Germany, Croatia, Italy and France, to name but a few. Additionally, he is founder of Westway Records, a London breakbeat and hip-hop label that’s put out releases from many currently-emerging artists from the UK dance music underground.
He is currently working on a warts ‘n’ all documentary about the band’s career; a mix of archive and new footage that charts the Dub Pistols’ strange journey from chancers to hot property to epic f**k-ups to unlikely triumph.

WILLE & THE BANDITS
Internationally Acclaimed Roots Warriors of the British Isles
All the way from the land of Poldark, these guys are the Real Deal! Pioneering “Acid World Rock”, Wille and the Bandits have been assertively carving a place for themselves in Europe’s music scene, developing a reputation as one of the best live acts around and capturing the imagination and interest of music lovers right across the globe.
The band were listed in the top ten must see bands at Glastonbury 2014 by BBC Radio 1 and were personally invited to perform on the German TV show Rockpalast; a musical institution of global import.
Essentially, Wille and the Bandits is a classic blues rock three piece, much in the vein of Cream or The Jimi Hendrix Experience and like these bands is pushing at the boundaries of their genre. Wille and the Bandits take their sound way beyond what is expected of such a traditional line up.
The band combines three talented and committed musicians who come from very different musical backgrounds. Wille’s exquisite slide guitar playing and powerful vocals are given perfect momentum with Andy’s innovative drumming, while virtuoso Matt, with his 6 string bass and double bass, adds a class and polish rarely seen in a Rock act. The great musicianship with infectious songs has inspired praise from Rock legends such as Ian Paice, Joe Bonamassa and Francis Rossi.
Throughout a performance the band can be seen playing a range of instruments, sometimes simultaneously, sometimes switching between various guitars, basses and percussion within the same song, giving the audience a complete performance which has seen the popularity of Wille and the Bandits grow at an exceptional rate.
Wille is a suberb slide player, I love what these guys are doing – Joe Bonamassa
Love the soul in their music – Bob Harris
JAMES & BLACK
“Guerrilla Soul is the recipe that Bruce James and Bella Black have mixed together in their Texan Sound Kitchen: A deep-fried, inside still pink, filet of New Orleans Soul à la Dr. John, soaked in a marinade of clubby R&B and organ heavy ZZ Top cover versions; with a pinch of hip-hop and the whole thing served on the funky beats of DJ Phil Ross.”

That thing you just cannot put a finger on, that thing you know is real but cannot see. This is the feeling you get when you listen to something so pure and authentic that you know there is way more to it than just notes and rhythm. Otis Redding had “it”, Nina Simone had “it”, Marvin Gaye and Etta James had “it”. Some people call “it” spirit also known as soul.
Since relocating to Europe in the summer of 2012, James & Black have laid a foundation across Europe playing close to 150 shows per year and covering over 300,000km in the process. They have supported Gregory Porter and Fatoumata Diawara at Summer Jazz, Candy Dulfer at Vondel Park, performed at the Porretta Soul Festival twice, along side artists such as Bobby Rush and Lattimore, Enclave de Aguas, The Barcelona International Jazz Festival, the Baltic Soul Weekender with Sister Sledge and Lenny Williams as a tribute to Allen Toussaint at the Porretta Soul Festival.
For those who had never seen Otis Redding or Aretha Franklin perform, go to a concert of Bruce James and Bella Black – this is the best option to close your eyes and go back to pure American sound whose songs echo to this day, for connoisseurs and non-connoisseurs alike. Bruce with his street poetry – “past tense is no more than last night’s wine” – Bella with her voice that tears thoughts and frees the mind of the listener. – Voci di Citta – Bologna IT

THE URBAN VOODOO MACHINE
Junkyard Blues and Stinging Rockabilly
with Mariachi Horns, Fiddles, sinister Cabaret and Punk Rock tangos!
We know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking: “Why should I care about The Urban Voodoo Machine? They’ve been around for ages, haven’t they? Aren’t they a novelty band who wears funny make-up? Don’t they sometimes play jazz? Aren’t half of them dead or something?”
Bear with us, sunshine, cos you clearly need educating…
Mariachi-influenced Blues, whiskey-soaked country rags and punk-a-billy style rave-ups (The Washington Post), drawing deep from a dirty well where Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Dick Dale are enjoying a burlesque all-nighter with Ennio Morricone (Classic Rock). One of the few bands that can rock both Radio 4’s Loose Ends and the Download festival in the same breath, and win at both!
The UVM story starts with Paul-Ronney Angel, a man with a double-barrelled first name. I could say the story starts with Bon Scott and Tom Waits, or where The Clash meets Louis Armstrong and The Pogues, but let’s stick with Paul-Ronney, it’s just quicker…
Paul-Ronney Angel ate his parents and fled the fjords of Norway with just a bottle of moonshine and several slices of decomposing fish in his back pocket. (Before he left they tried him in the Norwegian Army – he lasted a total of five hours.)
After that, Angel washed up in London during the dying breaths of Thatcherism and took advantage of all that swinging London had to offer: he sold The Big Issue, busked Johnny Thunders & Robert Johnson numbers in Soho bus stops and played guitar for anyone who’d have him.
“Yeah yeah yeah,” you’re thinking, “But can they cut it live??” Well, there’s a reason why they’ve played Glastonbury, Download, Latitude, Bestival, Hard Rock Calling and toured with The Pogues and New York Dolls, to name a couple. With an act honed alongside the burlesque dancers, snake-charmers and fire-eaters they call friends, The UVM have become one of the greatest live acts in the country – terrifyingly bizarre, hysterically funny. A riot for the eyes and sensation for the ears. A sing-a-long, drink-a-long, clap-a-long affair.
More than just ‘A Band’, The Urban Voodoo Machine is a way of Life and Death
Underestimate their potency AT YOUR PERIL!
A sharp-dressed, high-octane experience, that has to be seen to be believed!

BIG AL & THE WILD STRAWBERRIES
Little is known about Big Al and his Strawberries, except that they’re wild, juicy and most definitely in season throughout the summer!
We say that, however there is much talk in the mystical hamlet of Great Torrington, where the mighty Cromwell was defeated back in 1646, and descendants of those same Cavaliers still remember this victory today!
It is thought that Big Al was once the King of all Torrington and his armies where mighty, but secretive and his voice was renowned to be the loudest noise south of Bridgewater. After much Pagan incantations, our druids are now confident that The Wild Strawberries will manifest on the stage this year!!
Expect classic covers, country and a few rude tunes – they have been known to walk the line, but never made to tow it!
And now for something completely different!
A foot-stomping, innovative stage performance guaranteed to get you on yer feet!
Bringing an eclectic mix of original songs from World Folk through Jazz, Rock and the odd classic pop number played with Celtic tendencies and pushed by a driving bass and rhythm section.
Well, if you haven’t seen this Penryn-based band before, you certainly won’t have seen anything like it anywhere else! Jonah’s Lift perform a lively collection of rocked-up trad, as well as classic rock ballads given a fresh folk make-over and quirky tour of World Folk in their characteristic non-European rhythms and styles.
Masters of their instruments and a stage performance second to none, JL bring an exciting and innovative mix of original numbers and classics in their own inimitable style – they don’t just put Penryn on the map, they put it in places you’d never have thought to look!
So, charge your glasses and don’t say you weren’t warned!
“Making their name across Europe as a band with a fired-up live show that rings out into the night air like a 21 gun salute”
– Total Ntertainment –
South West based multi-instrumentalists Echo Town (Ric and Rob Harrison) are widely recognised for their vibrant, energetic performances, contemporary freedom songs and innovative combination of lap-slide guitar, djembe, didgeridoo, harmonica and driving percussion. Originating from the heavy rock genre in earlier years, this Leeds born duo relocated to Cornwall in 2015 and moved on to develop a more harmonious and spiritual approach to songwriting to become the upbeat Echo Town we see today.
After a debut mini album, Echo Town released their second album Come on Over in 2011 inspired by family relationships, the great outdoors and surfing on the East English coast. To great critical acclaim, Echo Town released their successful third album Be Strong Troop On, an anthemic and uplifting work, taking them to the next level, touring the UK and mainland Europe.
To date they have opened for Morcheeba, Xavier Rudd & The United Nations, Tankus the Henge, My Baby, Wille & The Bandits and Sound of the Sirens. With a dazzling string of leading music festivals notched up, 2018 saw the release of the fourth album Kin and single No Different. Reflective of their live performance, Kin is produced and engineered by the legendary John Cornfield (Muse, Supergrass, The Stone Roses) and we’re delighted to be one of the first festivals to welcome this awesome band on stage ahead of their Autumn European tour. A first chance to play these new songs alongside many of their past favourites.
With a fabulous line-up of songwriters, original artists and awesome acts at Elevation 593, we absolutely just had to have it! So here it is! Get your Dad (or Mum!) Grooves on with the No.1 act for a real 80s wriggle-on!
Now the 80s and 90s were responsible for some truly awful stuff. Neon. Shoulder pads. Mullets. But despite the questionable fashion choices and horrendous hair you have to admit that were some great tunes and memorable movies.
Riviera Dogs are a 5 piece band from the west of England delivering a polished set of quality music from the decades that taste forgot. “We have all performed in some of the most popular and longest running bands in the area but wanted to do something different; to play the music that we loved in our teens, to tackle some more difficult stuff and to have a good time. Not the easy ones, not the obvious ones, but the ones that will make you go ‘Ooh, I remember this….’ and will certainly lead to gyrating of the odd trouser and the best opportunity to get your full-blown ‘dad dancing’ up to muster!
Riviera Dogs pride themselves on delivering a wide range of material which showcases their musicianship and promise an unforgettable evening with a set that consists of less obvious but universally loved songs from the decade featuring hits from artists such as Toto, A-ha, Go West, Human League & many more. Riviera Dogs promise you a set of floor filling party tunes, ‘sing alongs’ and a night you will never forget!
Oh, and no Rick Astley.
THE MANTIC MUDDLERS
Roots, Rattle & Roll!
Combining a rich influence of sonic stylings and serving up their stories on a foundation of infectious grooves and raucous melodies, The Mantic Muddlers have a soundscape that pays tribute to the rich history of Roots music, whilst pushing forward into new territory.
Songs that walk a tightrope between Fiction & Reality are put forth on such instruments as the searing Violin, thunderous Double Bass and Resonator Guitar, and then enriched with a coating of heartfelt vocal harmonies.
For lack of a legitimate genre, you’ll be hearing Roots, Rattle & Roll!
“A wonderful story teller, a riotous rabble-rouser and an excellent performer.
Fans young and old are captivated by Goodspeed’s raw energy and infectious melodies”
– Roland Monger, listenwithmonger.co.uk
Gozer Goodspeed is a Plymouth-born blues-folk singer/songwriter who has been described as “a riotous rabble-rouser” (by music blogger Listen With Monger) and “a true natural musician” (by Jonathan L, International Radio Personality Of The Year 2017).
Playing his potent blend of deeply original blues-folk, Goodspeed is a permanent fixture on the Westcountry live scene in the UK, and has developed an ever-growing reputation for his powerful, foot-stomping live shows, which utilise live-looping to make maximum use of his unique guitar skills.
His obvious gift for performing has meant he’s quickly become a regular feature on the local festival circuit too. An artist on the rise, Gozer’s recorded music has been recognised and embraced locally by the likes of Balcony TV and BBC Introducing in Devon and Cornwall (for whom he has played numerous live sessions). His songs have also featured nationally on a slew of Folk and Roots radio shows, including FATEA’s flagship programme Along the Tracks. Internationally Gozer has been heavily supported by tastemakers such as Artie Martello, Jon Colchord and Jonathan L, and his music has therefore been heard across the world.
Up from Cornwall, BACHE write songs about things that we all think and feel but don’t always say out loud. Whether this is through upbeat lighthearted songs, about the things you would like to say to that friend who ‘is a bit of a dick’ or why you shouldn’t talk your ex, to slower more heartfelt songs, about love that’s lost and raising a glass to the future, the lyrics all have a relatable and meaningful story.
They receive regular airplay on local radio stations including a number of songs played on BBC Introducing with their charity Christmas single There’s No L in Christmas receiving national airplay on the Mark Forrest show.
BACHE spend most of their time on the road gigging up and down the county playing pubs, clubs, festivals, private functions and have several residencies.

In The Acoustic Bar…
Didge Dave on didgeridoo & cajon,
Cigar-box Dave on slide & cigar-box guitar,
Gideon on cajon & precussion
Frontman from Tuesday Syndicate, Mayo is the perfect acoustic tear away from this thriving indie 4 piece.
Incorporating a slightly folksy tinge, Sam’s songs remain brimming with power and spilling emotion.
The breath-taking vocal talents of nineteen year old Amena will leave you in awe as she performs a feel good set of covers old and new. Her Etta James is sublime!
