1916, and Sam Inch starts to make cider in the Western Barn at Winkleigh. During times of hardship, staff would be paid in apples. After Bulmers took over the Inch’s name in the 90s, Sam’s long-time colleague David Bridgman formed The Winkleigh Cider Company, naming the cider after his friend and mentor, “Sam’s Cider”.
Four of the original century-old oak vats take pride of place at Winkleigh and we are delighted that they are sponsoring our Bar Acoustic Stage this year.
